TRANSITION SERVICES:

The PVREC offers the services of a Transition Coordinator to the member schools for help with transition services.  Transition services are an integral part of a student’s IEP (individualized Education Plan).  The Transition Coordinator assists the IEP team with determining services for the future of the child.  Some of the areas that transition services cover are: employment, home living/independent living, postsecondary education/training, recreation and leisure and community participation.  The transition plan usually consist of present levels and future goals in all of these areas as well as any testing, four year plans, and graduation plans that the student needs assistance with.  The job really has many different facets, as most of public education has something to do with the transition to adulthood.

One unique test that is administered to the students is the CHOICES test.  This test consist of many subtests all designed to get the student on the right track in whatever field they may choose.  The tests consist of: interest surveys, basic skills surveys, databases on numerous colleges and occupations, and a host of other things designed to assist every high school student.

If anyone has any questions about the program, please feel free to call Paul Lessard at 748-6111.
