REFLECTIVE SUPERVISION TRAINING TO BE CONTINUED:

Supporting Staff in Their Relationship with Families of Young Children

 

   Debra Billings and Suzanne Pope with the Department of Health, will return to PVREC to conduct a follow-up training on Team Building and Reflective Supervision.  The date of the training will be October 13th. Ms Billings and Ms. Pope will provide information on:  1) Principles of Reflective Practice; 2) Tools that will help support refection; 3) Ways to support reflective practice.  Reflection is defined as………….”Stepping back from the immediate experience to sort through thoughts and feelings about what one is observing and doing with children and families.”

 

Ways of Using Reflective Practice in an Early Intervention Program………..

 

Individual reflection with an assigned supervisor to focus on the work with the child/family and the experience of the supervisee.

 

Group supervision with an assigned supervisor who facilitates members of the group sharing their work with a child/family and reflecting on their experience.

 

Multidisciplinary group of supervisors and /or manager to discuss a variety of issues that arise in the work of supervising staff and administering a program.

 

Peer reflection with a facilitator (supervisor) in which staff members in similar positions meet to problem solve and support each other.

 

Staffings (Experience-based Discussions) in which staff working with a family review, reflect and discuss their work with the family.

 

Program planning meetings to reflect and discuss program direction and progress toward goals.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Reports from Committees……..

 

   The Recruitment and Retention Committee recognized each employee at the May, 2006 staff meeting with a certificate in recognition of years of service to PVREC.  The certificates were presented to each employee in a frame and displaying the new PVREC Logo.  The committee also recognized Shirley Loop, in the business office, as the employee with the most years of service to PVREC.  Each employee contributed a gift for a special “gift basket” for Shirley.
