Shirley Loop pictured in her office holding her plaque of 15 years of service to PVREC#8.  Shirley moved to Artesia her high school senior year from Anton, Texas located about 24 miles west of Lubbock, Texas, she was 16 years old when she graduated from Artesia High School.

Shirley has only held 3 jobs in the last 40 years.  She went to work for Bill Sweat Construction in 1962 in the accounting department, after working for Sweat for 10 years she went to work for Arrowhead Oil as a Corporate Secretary/ Treasurer & Bookkeeper for 15 years.  In 1991 when Shirley started working at PVREC#8 she was hired as a part-time employee, after 1 year she became full-time.  Shirley was the Business Manager for PVREC#8 for 10 years and at the present time she holds the position of Accounts Payable Clerk.

Shirley is married to Frank Loop, Shirley has 3 children, 2 sons Ronnie & Randy and 1 daughter Robbi.  She has 6 grandchildren, 3 step great-grandchildren and 5 great- grandchildren.  Shirley loves to spend time with her family.

Everyday before going to the office, she has her personal devotional time praying and reading her Bible, she also keeps a prayer journal, a thank you journal and a daily journal.  Shirley also writes Poetry and is trying to do some scrap booking in her spare time.

Shirley has done some traveling over the years, she has traveled to Acapulco, Canada, London & Alaska.  Shirley is also quite a dare-devil she took flying lessons in the 80’s, has gone parasailing in Acapulco, rode the rapids in Alaska and Durango Colorado, and has ridden in a hot air balloon in Pagosa, Colorado.

Shirley has held several official positions, she was the 1st woman president of the Artesia Chamber of Commerce in 1984, and she was the President of Desk & Derrick.

I enjoy going into Shirley’s office just to look at all the decorations she puts up with every season and to eat some of her delicious candy.  Shirley Loop is an amazing woman, when I grow up I want to be just like her.
