Loving Elementary School
Awarded Reading First Funding: All four member districts’ elementary schools are now “Reading First”
schools. Loving Elementary School was
awarded funding as a Cohort III School.
K-three teachers along with the Reading Coach and Principal Art Anaya
attended the NM Reading First Summer Institute August 2-5 at Tamaya Resort in
Bernalillo, NM. Dexter, Hagerman and
Lake Arthur Elementary Schools are part of Cohort II. New Mexico Reading First “Teaching All Children to
Read” Three Tiered Licensure
Training Project…….
Roxann Morris, trainer for PVREC’S three tier project, has been
providing direction and support for teachers in Dexter, Hagerman and Lake
Arthur districts who are preparing dossiers for submission. Roxann continues to meet with teachers in
the computer lab in Dexter for Dossier support. If you are a teacher needing support for
Dossier submission contact Roxann Morris at Dexter Middle School. Around
the state……… The 3TL training project continues to serve districts and
teachers/administrators by providing training modules as needed. In most districts throughout the state
raining sessions have been held for new teachers and administrators. Updated training has been provided for
Boards of Education in the regions and technical assistance has been provided
with a variety of training goals,
including the development and evaluation of professional development plans,
use of indicators for teacher performance evaluation, administration of
growth plans, etc. Each Regional
Education Cooperative employs a certified trainer to provide this training
and technical assistance in member and nonmember districts. Janet Sistrunk, REC#8 Executive Director,
serves as the statewide project Director and Midge Graham, from High Plains
REC#3 is Lead Trainer for the project.
