Family Infant Toddler (FIT)

Family, Infant & Toddler Program (FIT) provides early intervention services and service coordination which includes developmental screenings, evaluations, and specialized services in the areas of cognitive, speech and language, fine and gross motor skills, and social and emotional services to eligible children birth through three years of age and their families. The infants are on IFSP's (Individualized Family Service Plans). Most of these services are provided in the home or other natural settings. Specialists are responsible for setting-up and carrying out the IFSP meetings and helping the families with their needs. The FIT program is administered by the NM Department Of Health, under IDEA-Part C. Because PVREC is one of the state's FIT service providers, transition from part C to part B of IDEA is seamless for children and families.

Respite - respite is a flexible family support service that

provides short term, temporary care for a child with

disabilities to allow their families to take a break from the

daily routine of care giving. PVREC personnel assist the

family by providing services such as a "mother's day out"

and playgroups. Respite is also provided on an individual

family's needs basis. (Contact Sylvia Calderon or Christine Hernandez for information on the Family Infant Toddler Program)
