Migrant Program Services

PVREC has been selected as a “Model” for the delivery of Migrant Program services for the state.  The service delivery model for migrant students is a “regional” concept.  This delivery model came about from the idea of “centralizing” migrant services in one region of the state, instead of each school district providing separate programs.  Data on students identified for services will be entered into one data base and will be tracked to determine progress being made.  A migrant student is defined as a student who has moved form one school district to another with a parent or guardian who is seeking or acquiring employment in agriculture and related food processing activities. A student meeting these requirements, with the consent of his/her parents or guardian may receive benefits from the migrant program for a period of three years.  School districts served by this program are Roswell, Dexter, Artesia, Hagerman, Lake Arthur, Loving and Carlsbad.
