Special Education

Pecos Valley REC provides services and training for special education personnel that follows the guidelines of specific laws to benefit the child. On this page you will find information about the services and resources available.

Child Find

A free, appropriate public education is available to all children with disabilities from birth until the age of 21. The Child Find program involves the process of identifying, locating, and evaluating these children. 

Parents who see difficulties in their children related to speech, vision, hearing, language, movement, thinking, learning, and/or self-help skills should contact the school district where the child resides. The school district will provide developmental screenings; the child does not need to be of school age to receive the screening.
